Beauty In Focus is a documentary film about the making of Woman Redefined: dignity, beauty, and breast cancer produced by first-time filmmakers Kerri Savard, Rachel Carlson, Lauren MacGill, and Jeff Schultz. This film tells Kristina Hunter’s story of breast cancer survival and her inspiration to create a resource for the women making decisions about breast cancer surgery and treatment. Beauty In Focus also documents ML Kenneth’s creative process and labour and the stories of three of the models featured in Woman: Redefined, Tara Torchia-Wells, Claudia Kuryk-Serray, and Belinda Tittle.

Beauty In Focus is an official selection of the 2016 Gimli Film Festival and is currently available to MTS subscribers in Manitoba, Canada courtesy of MTS Stories From Home.

Kerri Savard is a Creative Communications graduate from Red River College. She is a filmmaker, writer and designer. She is passionate about storytelling, freshly painted nails and nature documentaries. When she’s not creating, she loves spending time with her family.

Rachel Carlson is a Creative Communications graduate from Red River College and a graduate of English Studies and Rhetoric and Communications from the University of Winnipeg. She has a passion for writing and producing any kind of media with a compelling story to tell. Her book reviews have appeared online in The Winnipeg Review and in print with Herizons magazine. In her spare time she’s an aspiring poet.

Above all, Lauren MacGill is a storyteller. Her goal is to create and share these creations with others. Any medium is fair game, including written works, documentary filmmaking, and podcasting. Lauren majored in Media Production from the Creative Communications program at Red River College. She hopes to continue making videos in the future, and publish a few dozen books.
